On March 9, 2009, in Gadget Reviews, by Yuvi

The hi5 and Paymo users of around 24 countries have an exciting new to cheer about. The Global mobile payments network Paymo and hi5 have joined hands to provide their members an online mobile payment system to buy hi5 coins. paymo

The features associated with this partnership venture are:

The users do not require a bank account or a credit card to avail this facility, all they have to do is to enter their cell phone numbers on the site, reply to a Paymo message and then automatically the charges at hi5 are added to the monthly cell phone bill payment of the user.

The concept, on which this whole functionality is based, is that over 75 percent of the online community does not have a bank account or a credit card but almost 90 percent of them have cell phones with them.

Thus, such a system tends to increase the horizon. Moreover the payment through Paymo’s mobile system is very easy and comfy. This system increases efficiency and introduces flexibility, which is a positive aspect. But, the high cost charged by the mobile carriers to the payment systems remains a grave concerning factor. This problem can provide a severe set back to such services.

Samsung Mobile, the leading Korean mobile manufacturer, today launched the SAMSUNG Pixon (M800), which is claimed to be the first 8 Megapixel touch screen camera mobile phone in India. The Pixon is enriched with all the latest camera functions found in Digital Cameras.

It has the advanced features like Shake Reduction, Smile detection, Face Detection, Blink detection, Panormic shot. The phone has a photo editing feature, with which the photos clicked can be easily edited and users can also make a photo memo just by scribbling on the photos.

The phone has many new and improved features. It has video recording and TV output for both PAL and NTSC systems. It also offers mobile blogging and easy viewing and sharing pictures. The pictures scroll through in a magnificent way, just at tilting the phone. Thus flipping through photos becomes a real fun. Along with this Pixon supports a large range of video player formats like mp4, DivX and also an advanced Music Player having SRS 3D surround sound.

COMPARISION
Pixon is not a smartphone like the previously announced Omnia(i900), yet it is a smarter phone to carry. It uses software similar to the F480’s, but as it is released around half an year later, it is bound to have many improvements. The software in F480’s was not liked by the users but M800 seems to be a promising phone, as Samsung has brought many improvements over its previous models.

Pixon is a clear rival to the Renoir, of LG. Renoir has a similar design, DivX video support, 8 MP Camera and similar interface. Even though both the phones are GSM (with 3G and GPS), LG has an upper edge, as it also have Wi-Fi feature and XviD support. Let’s hope that this latest Samsung phone is able to please the users with its advanced features.

The PIXON is tagged at an MRP of Rs. 28,750

MOTOROLA MOTOROKR E6 REVIEW

On October 8, 2008, in Gadget Reviews, by Yuvi

motorokr

PROS

Amazingly designed MOTOROKR is amongst the most hot phones in the market. The phone offers almost all the desirable features required by a person at such a low cost. Its beautiful design and comfortable features make it a lot more popular.
The design though gives a feel that the phone might be a slider one but it is clearly a misconception. The phone is a PDA for sure and has an excellent design for a PDA. The phone has a much lesser weight than a usual PDA.
The phone has a magnificently finished body resembling the PEBL. It has a large 2.4-inch, 256K TFT touch screen supporting a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The D-Pad button in the phone has a comfortable design and thus makes it easier for the user to access all the 5 clicks.

motorokr
The back portion of this phone too has a lot to offer. It has an elevated squared shaped base having a 2 MP camera, along with a very tiny mirror by the camera side to click self photos. The camera mode can easily be changed from a landscape mode to Macro mode using a slider notch provided by the side of the camera lens. Along with this, the metal Motorola logo at the centre adores the back and gives it a stunning look.

The MOTOROKR operates on the Linux Operating System and has the similar OS as the Moto Ming has. The phone has 8MB memory and can be extended up to 2GB.
Also the HTML browser provided in the phone is full fledged and can be used to surf with easy. The surfing through this browser is really delightful. The MOTOROKR has many softwares within. Most important and effective ones are:
Business Card Reader
File Manager
Photo Editor
Goggle Search
Modem
Viewer
STK
Voice Recorder.

CONS

This phone too has the speakers at it’s back which reduces its sound when kept on some table or in the pocket.
Although the Linux OS works good but when compared with the Windows Mobile, it lags behind.
The scrolling speed of the phone is very slow and thus seems very frustrating while scrolling down the list.

The price has fallen to Rs.9000.
